FEAM Aero, based in Miami, FL, is seeking an experienced Director of Quality to oversee the Quality Assurance and Quality Control functions of the company’s line maintenance engineering operations.
The Director reports to the Vice President of Safety & Quality and holds final authority for return to service, serves as the AS 9110 Quality Management Representative, and manages repair station policies, procedures, and documentation.
Duties & Responsibilities- Ensure compliance with applicable rules, regulations, organizational standards, and quality expectations in all company operations.
- Directly oversee the Chief Inspector and Quality Assurance Managers.
- Establish, manage, and update quality department objectives.
- Act as designated liaison for regulatory bodies and accrediting organizations and interface with customers on quality issues.
- Represent the repair station in matters of airworthiness and safety with the FAA and customers.
- Maintain currency on regulatory requirements and quality standards.
- Develop and maintain regulatory manuals, documentation, records, and SOPs.
- Conduct risk assessments of proposed organizational and operational changes and develop mitigation strategies.
- Lead the department’s quality audit and corrective action process, providing training, facilitation, and recommendations.
- Perform and direct investigations of quality escapes; review findings, root‑cause analysis, and work with operations to implement corrective actions.
- Ensure all inspections are properly performed on completed work and that inspection records, reports, and forms are properly executed before returning any component to service.
- Ensure technical data used to inspect or repair aircraft, engines, or component parts is current.
- Ensure that no defective, unserviceable, or non‑airworthy parts are installed on any aircraft or component part returned to service.
- Submit reports of defects and unairworthy conditions to the local FAA Flight Standard District Office per 14
CFR Part
145.221. - Ensure that FAA Form
337 and/or the FEAM Maintenance Release are properly executed. - Maintain filing of maintenance and inspection records so that the file corresponding to a specific item can be readily located for review.
- Manage the Repair Station Roster of Management, Supervisory, and Inspection Personnel.
- Ensure the outside repair agency and subcontractor approval program, including inspections of their facilities, is accomplished.
- Review and approve work performed for 14
CFR Part, and foreign 129 operators to ensure 14
CFR Part
145.205 is strictly adhered to. - Maintain the Approved Vendor List in current status.
- Implement the Quality Assurance Program in accordance with the Repair Station Manual.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track and report on quality metrics.
- Ensure the quality management system conforms to AS9110 Standard and maintains integrity when changes are implemented.
- Ensure direct reports maintain currency and competency appropriate for their duties through continuing education and training.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Safety & Quality.
- Minimum of five (5) years of CFR Part
145 repair station or Part
121 air carrier quality assurance experience. - Must hold an FAA Airframe & Powerplant license with experience in line maintenance and/or heavy check operations.
- Thorough knowledge of 14
CFR Part
145 & 121 regulations, FAA & EASA airworthiness certification requirements, and other regulatory bodies. - Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Outlook and Office Suite.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to write effective reports, business correspondence, and manuals.
- Several years of supervisory experience.
- US citizenship or permanent resident status required.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Interface professionally with all departments, levels of management, customers, and vendors.
- Analyze information and utilize problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills.
- Strong organizational skills to set and meet deadlines.
- Detail‑oriented; can work in a fast‑paced environment with constantly shifting priorities.
- Work independently and as part of a team.
- Work under adverse conditions in a production/aircraft maintenance environment.
- Willing to work an irregular schedule and travel when required.
