Job DescriptionThe Chief Inspector leads inspection operations across maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facilities to ensure all aircraft and component maintenance meets FAA regulations, OEM requirements, and airworthiness standards. This role oversees inspection teams, drives quality performance, and plays a key leadership role in maintaining the highest level of safety, compliance, and operational excellence within a fast‑paced aviation environment.
Responsibilities- Lead and oversee inspection teams performing preliminary, in‑process, and final inspections on aircraft and components.
- Ensure all work is properly inspected, documented, and approved for return to service in accordance with FAA, OEM, and airworthiness requirements.
- Monitor work‑in‑progress and maintain an efficient workflow across the inspection department to meet operational and customer timelines.
- Establish, track, and report performance metrics and quality goals to drive consistent quality and compliance.
- Identify, report, and document defects and recurring airworthiness issues in compliance with 14 CFR Part 145.
- Ensure all maintenance activities, including onsite and offsite work, meet Repair Station Manual standards and procedures.
- Drive continuous improvement of quality systems, inspection procedures, and compliance processes across the organization.
- Lead root cause analysis and implement effective corrective actions to address quality and compliance issues.
- Recruit, develop, and manage inspection team performance, including coaching, training, and supporting career growth.
- Support capability approvals and self‑evaluations in alignment with FAA regulations and internal standards.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with leadership, operations, and customer teams to align inspection activities with business and customer needs.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of regulatory changes and ensure inspection practices remain compliant and current.
- Active A&P License in accordance with Part 65 requirements.
- At least 10 years of experience in an MRO environment, specifically in CRM MRO operations.
- A minimum of 5 years in a leadership or supervisory role within maintenance or inspection functions.
- Strong knowledge of FAA regulations, including 14 CFR Part 145, airworthiness standards, and inspection processes.
- Demonstrated experience approving aircraft and components for return to service.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage, mentor, and develop inspection teams.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with customers.
- Solid background in quality assurance within an aviation or large engine MRO setting.
Skills & Qualifications
- Hands‑on experience in large engine MRO environments, including CFM engine platforms.
- Experience working in modern, high‑technology MRO facilities with state‑of‑the‑art equipment.
- Background in developing and tracking quality metrics and performance indicators.
- Experience leading root cause analysis and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
- Familiarity with repair station manuals and related documentation processes.
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, high‑compliance aviation setting.
