The Industrial/Civil Engineer is responsible for leading the Quality Control Department and overseeing all quality control operations related to concrete production and field performance. This role reviews project specifications, develops and maintains concrete mix designs, optimizes product performance through testing and analysis, supervises Quality Control Technicians, and ensures compliance with industry standards, certifications, and safety requirements.
Education & Experience- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Concrete Technology, Engineering, or a related field preferred;
or - Minimum of 5 years of experience in the concrete or construction industry.
- Participate in pre-bid and pre-construction planning activities.
- Review project specifications and recommend appropriate concrete mix designs for estimating and production.
- Develop, submit, and maintain concrete mix designs that meet project requirements.
- Monitor and optimize concrete mix performance through laboratory and field testing.
- Supervise, train, and direct Quality Control Technicians, including daily work assignments and performance oversight.
- Maintain laboratory organization, cleanliness, equipment, and inventory.
- Coordinate with Customer Service and Dispatch to support efficient production and customer satisfaction.
- Perform aggregate and concrete testing in accordance with ASTM, AASHTO, ACI, and other applicable standards.
- Assist with trial batches, including material preparation, batching, testing, and evaluation.
- Maintain accurate records for mix designs, compressive strength testing, gradations, and laboratory results.
- Analyze testing data and reports to improve product quality and performance.
- Investigate customer complaints, jobsite issues, and product performance concerns, and recommend corrective actions.
- Inspect, maintain, calibrate, and verify laboratory and field testing equipment.
- Ensure compliance with quality control procedures, laboratory certifications, and all applicable safety regulations.
- Strong knowledge of concrete and aggregate testing procedures.
- Working knowledge of ASTM, AASHTO, and ACI standards.
- DOT Certification required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
- Strong analytical, mathematical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and communication skills.
- Valid Florida driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
- Ability to maintain current laboratory certifications and obtain required ACI, OSHA, and MSHA certifications.
