Responsibilities:
* Evaluate work environments to identify and mitigate health and safety risks.
* Develop, implement, and enforce safety policies and procedures.
* Conduct safety committee meetings, accident investigations, and employee training.
* Ensure corrective actions are taken to address identified hazards and deficiencies.
* Board vessels as required via gangway access to conduct safety activities, including incident and injury investigations, and coordinate with vessel personnel to ensure compliance with safety procedures and regulatory requirements.
* Conduct drug and alcohol testing when needed and coordinate with HR on workers" compensation and safety compliance.
* Prepare, maintain, and update safety documentation, logs, and reports.
* Collaborate with the Hazmat team on incident response and compliance activities.
* Monitor compliance with OSHA, DOT, and other applicable regulatory standards.
* Conduct regular safety audits, workplace inspections, and new-hire orientations.
* Prepare reports and maintain communication with regulatory agencies. Requirements:
* 3+ years of safety experience at an industrial site with OSHA and DOT knowledge.
* High School diploma or equivalent; TWIC card required within 30 days of employment.
* Ability to independently identify and assess workplace hazards while conducting safety audits
* Intermediate skills in MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel (create charts, formulas, and reports)
* Ability to communicate in English & Spanish
* Valid driver"s license and clean driving record.
* Flexible to work extended hours as needed, including weekends and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Previous experience working in the maritime industry.
* Familiarity with EPA and DEP regulations and requirements.
* Associate degree in occupational safety, environmental health and safety, or a related field.
