CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
The department of Medicine has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Sr. Research Associate 1, SOM to work on-site on the UHealth campus. The Sr. Research Associate 1, SOM provides laboratory-based support for the University’s research activities by tackling the more specialized and complex projects and experiments. Additionally, the incumbent leverages his/her expertise in training and mentoring department staff, students, and less experienced research associates.
This specific job at IDEA syringe services program (SSP) will include assisting the IDEA SSP Principal Investigators and Program Director on assigned research studies.
- Collects, analyzes, and presents research data.
- Monitors and maintains relevant research databases to ensure accurate data entries.
- Understands and interprets research protocols and procedures.
- Participates in the publication of significant results to include authorship of scientific monographs.
- Advances expertise through continued education, training, and research.
- Maintains current knowledge of relevant developments in the field.
- Ensures all research is undertaken according to good research practice.
- Warrants that department activities comply with applicable guidelines and regulations.
- Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
- Reports to Principal Investigators and Program Director on assigned funded/unfunded research studies at IDEA syringe services program (SSP) at UM.
- Develops and maintains reporting needs and/or other requirements as established by the IRB, HSRO, and the HIPAA office for assigned research studies at IDEA SSP at UM.
- Oversees activities related to research and daily activities for assigned research studies at IDEA SSP at UM.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS- Master’s Degree in relevant field required
- Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.
- Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
