The Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine is currently seeking a Research Coordinator II to join our team of professionals.
Duties- Develop recruitment materials, contact potential study participants over the phone and/or in person, and schedule initial study visits.
- Inform and consent participants according to established and approved IRB‑approved research protocols.
- Provide administrative assistance to study investigators regarding development and maintenance of IRB documents, study protocols and data forms.
- Contact study participants to schedule study visits.
- Conduct study interviews and collect physiological measures at designated study sites.
- Write, document and otherwise record participant responses accurately.
- Supervise Research Assistants by reviewing their data entered into the database from finished survey questions.
- Review documented study visit summary notes and prepared reports of Research Assistants as needed.
- Perform any related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Develop study protocol manuals and recruitment materials, contact potential study participants over the phone and/or in person, and schedule initial study visits.
- Be primarily responsible, under the supervision of the Center Director, for all IRB‑related matters, including development and maintenance of IRB documents, active communication with IRB channels, and report preparation.
- Supervise Research Assistants who inform and consent participants according to established and approved IRB‑approved protocols.
- Conduct data management activities for studies led by the Center, including development and maintenance of research databases using proper software (My NCBI and SciENcv, Epi info, SPSS, Ref Works, and REDCap). Responsibilities include data cleaning, creation of a data dictionary, and implementation of data management plans.
- Assist the Center Director in the planning, organization, execution, and evaluation of academic seminars, continuous medical education events, and other Center education initiatives.
- Assist the Center Director in conducting literature reviews, managing citation databases, preparing materials for grant applications, and scientific presentations.
- Provide direct support and supervise administrative assistants for administrative activities of the Center, including preparation and processing of travel documents, corporate credit‑card reconciliation in coordination with the HWCOM Department of Finance, purchasing supplies and equipment, and scheduling meetings.
Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of experience.
Desired QualificationsMultilingual capabilities, minimum of English and Spanish preferred; prior experience with public health surveying and/or surveillance techniques; knowledge of community‑based research methodologies; travel required throughout Miami Dade County; successful completion of FIU's human subjects protection IRB certification required within two (2) weeks of being hired.
