Manages the operations of the molecular and cellular biology lab at the FIU Center for Translational Sciences in Port St. Lucie, FL. Performs molecular and cellular biology experiments (cell culture, qPCR, IHC, WB, data analysis, etc.) in support of the research program, maintaining lab inventory and cell lines, and supervising lab trainees. The molecular and cellular biology lab is focused on investigating the mechanisms of pulmonary diseases, especially regarding the immune and epithelial cells as biomarkers, molecular tools, and the application of peptide drugs as therapeutics.
Responsibilities- Performs cellular and molecular biology experiments to produce data for publication in support of the research program.
- Manages the operations of the molecular and cellular biology lab. Responsible for ordering and maintaining inventory of equipment, chemicals, and other materials.
- Manages and maintains mouse colonies, including performing breeding and genotyping to ensure the sustainability of the mouse colonies.
- Prepares SOPs and gains protocol approvals from IACUC, IBC, EHS, and IRB when needed.
- Assists in developing lab procedures. Provides training in routine lab procedures and safety protocols.
- Manages the setup, breakdown, and maintenance of the lab and associated apparatus. Ensures adequate quality control of equipment.
- Oversees the collection, storage, and disposal of all hazardous waste materials in the labs. Complies with Environmental Protection Agency guidelines.
- Works closely with faculty and administrative personnel in specifying, evaluating, and purchasing lab equipment.
- May be required to supervise high school students during summer camp.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field and four (4) years of experience or Master's degree and two (2) years of experience.
- Experience performing molecular and cellular biology experiments.
- Experience working with laboratory animals.

Advertised Salary$65,475 - $75,000
Work Schedule- Begin time: 8:30 AM
