CoreJob Summary
The Core Facility Research Specialist 2 executes complex research protocols and supports core facilities by maintaining equipment, ensuring compliance, and developing new services. The incumbent liaises with the SR Director, Research Lab Supervisors, and research staff for laboratory and equipment maintenance, ordering, inventory, and compliance.
Core Job Functions- Assists in the operation of sophisticated scientific equipment.
- Assists in the development of new core procedures.
- Assists in ensuring the lab adheres to regulatory policies.
- Reviews laboratory results, maintains records using appropriate lab notebooks or database entry.
- Follows SOPs (Standard Operating Protocols) and assists in the development and testing of new procedures or applications.
- Trains other SR staff and users on procedures or applications.
- Evaluates inventory of supplies and reagents, communicates order needs, places orders, verifies receipts, and manages stock as received.
- Assists in performing QA/QC and maintenance of laboratory equipment, including making minor repairs and coordinating service engineers.
- Possesses computational skills necessary to acquire proficiency in new software programs, cloud‑based tools, online webforms and databases.
- Displays excellent record‑keeping skills for laboratory work and client interactions.
- Keeps abreast of current publications related to methods, techniques, and developments within the research area.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required.
Experience: Minimum 1 year of relevant experience required.
