The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Dermatology has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Voluntary Research Scholar to work in Miami, FL. The Voluntary Research Scholar (A) grants and appoints residents and fellows participating in research initiatives as part of their training. This appointment provides opportunities to be an investigator on grants.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS- Prepares research proposals with detailed rationale, background data, and proposed methods and organization.
- Designs and writes programs to perform analysis and produces written reports on results.
- Collects pilot data to help support new and competing renewal applications.
- Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
- Maintains data files and conducts data analysis.
- Drafts and publishes manuscripts and articles for peer-reviewed journals.
- Prepares and submits grant applications.
- Designs, executes, interprets, and integrates scientific data.
- Presents research findings at local and national scientific conferences.
- Plan and conduct assigned and/or original research projects autonomously while working collaboratively with UM faculty, staff, postdocs and students.
- Perform basic molecular biology and cell biology techniques such as nucleic acid extraction and manipulation, PCR, RT-PCR, Western blot analysis, immunostaining, and cell culture.
- Maintain accurate records of research findings and the analysis of results.
- Assist in the preparation of manuscripts for publications and grant preparations.
- Present research findings at professional meetings.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS- MD in relevant field.
- Must be working as a resident or fellow in University of Miami program.
- Skills in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.
- Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.
