The Autism Intervention Development (AID) Lab in the Department of Psychology at Florida International University is seeking a full‑time research assistant to begin in Fall 2026. The research assistant will primarily work on an R01 study, under the direction of Dr. Yael Dai. The sequential multiple assignment randomized trial (SMART) is evaluating an adaptive parent‑coaching intervention for young autistic children. Ultimately, we aim to learn effective ways to augment interventions to improve participant engagement in the intervention and family outcomes.
This position is ideal for a candidate looking to gain additional research experience in clinical psychology before applying to graduate school. We require a minimum of a two‑year commitment. The role involves day‑to‑day project activities related to the R01 as well as other activities in the AID lab. Primary activities include, but are not limited to: managing the research administrative aspects of the award, including coordination of issues related to the budget, staff, scheduling, IRB(s), recruitment, enrollment, and retention;
overseeing nontechnical aspects of data management, organization, quality assurance; conducting in‑person and remote study visits with autistic children (some as young as 14 months old) and their parents; assisting with managing lab volunteers and personnel; and participating in literature reviews and manuscript writing. The RA will work alongside other lab members. The RA will work in‑person from FIU’s Modesto
A. Maidique Campus (MMC). While traditional work hours (9–5; 40 hours per week) are expected, the RA may be asked to swap routine hours for evening and weekend hours to accommodate families’ schedules and facilitate research visits.
