The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Surgery has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time, Research Associate 2 to work in Miami.
Core
Job Summary:
The Research Associate 2, contributes to the University's research activities under the supervision of senior staff. Moreover, the incumbent understands, interprets, and complies with research policies and protocols.
Core Responsibilities:
- Performs specialized and complex experiments/studies.
- Participates in the publication of significant research results.
- Advances expertise through education, training, and research.
- Writes extramural grants/proposals to gain support when appropriate.
- Collects, prepares, analyzes, dissects, and evaluates specimens and tissue cultures.
- Weighs and anesthetizes laboratory animals for experiments.
- Operates sensitive and highly complex laboratory equipment.
- Performs calculations to complete research test results.
- Performs photography and dark room processing.
- Participates in training sessions and workshops.
- Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
Department Specific Functions:
- Serve as a bridge between computational biology and wet-lab research by analyzing multi-omics datasets (bulk, single-cell, and spatial) from patient tumors and disease models.
- Collaborate with data scientists, bioinformaticians, and cancer biologists to identify gene regulatory networks and investigate mechanisms of tumorigenesis, treatment resistance, and metastasis.
- Analyze high-throughput sequencing datasets (e.g., RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, scRNA-seq, scATAC-seq, Hi-C, and spatial transcriptomics), apply statistical modeling and machine learning, and develop computational workflows using R, Python, and Git Hub.
- Contribute to data visualization, interpretation, and manuscript preparation; assist with wet-lab techniques such as library preparation, histology, PCR, flow cytometry, and media preparation; document workflows and results according to institutional and scientific standards; and adapt to evolving project priorities, workflow improvements, and emerging analytical needs.

- Bachelor's Degree in relevant field
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience
- Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.
