Senior Research Associate II
The Cooperative Institute for Marine and Atmospheric Studies (CIMAS) at the University of Miami, Rosenstiel School of Marine, Atmospheric, and Earth Science invites applications for one Senior Research Associate II (SRA II) position at the NOAA Fisheries Southeast Fisheries Science Center, Marine Mammal and Turtle Division's Marine Mammal Molecular Genomics Laboratory based in Crowley, Louisiana. The lab conducts genomic analysis to support the management and conservation of marine mammals throughout the southeastern U.S. We are searching for a candidate with expertise in environmental DNA (eDNA) laboratory practices as well as bioinformatics to contribute to our ongoing work with eDNA.
Duties will include eDNA field collection, performing eDNA extractions, quantitative and digital PCR, metabarcoding, next-generation library preparation, and data analysis. Additional duties include database entry, archiving, equipment maintenance, and management of genomic data, metadata, and pipelines, and the preparation of reports and/or peer-reviewed manuscripts. This position is currently funded for 1 year with possible extension based on funding availability and will be based near Lafayette, Louisiana.
