Pay Range
The starting pay range for this position per hour is $22.50 - $24.50. The full pay range for this position per hour is $22.50 - $38.25. Pay is based on several factors that vary by position, including labor markets, education, work experience and certifications.

OverviewThe General Merchandise Team Leader is responsible for leading a team of hourly team members to provide an exceptional guest experience. The role requires managing inventory, merchandising, pricing, promotions, and back‑room organization, as well as recruiting, coaching, and developing team members.
Responsibilities- Lead the execution of daily/weekly workload to deliver on department and store sales goals and guest engagement.
- Coach, train, evaluate, and retain hourly team members.
- Observe and provide feedback, hold team members accountable, and recognize guest‑experience moments.
- Review area guest, financial, and team outcome metrics to identify opportunities and take action to improve.
- Ensure consistent execution of Target’s guest‑experience commitments and operations standards.
- Design and assign daily tasks to team members based on workload and guest traffic patterns.
- Educate the team on operational procedures affecting inventory management, store profitability, and product availability.
- Support pickup, packing, and ship fulfillment work accurately (if applicable).
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local laws, including adult beverage laws, food safety, and pricing policies.
- Model a culture of safety, ethical conduct, and physical security, and assist with incident response.
- Assume store‑level leadership on duty (LOD) responsibilities as required.
- High school diploma or equivalent; age 18 or older.
- Previous retail experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to lead and hold others accountable.
- Effective communication skills.
- Strong customer service and guest‑first mindset.
- Capacity to manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.
- Flexibility to work variable schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and peak shopping times.
- Physical capacity to lift or move merchandise up to 44 pounds and work in varying temperatures, humidity, and other environmental conditions.
