Job Summary
Assists in managing the daily operations of the floral department. Increases customer confidence and loyalty by promoting and executing consistent and compliant operating conditions. Provides fresh and appealing floral products, courteous, knowledgeable and prompt service. Executes merchandising plans as outlined in department planners, toolkits or event packs while minding merchandising standards, product levels, shrink and sales trends. Values diversity and supports an inclusive environment by embracing the backgrounds and experiences of the team.
This is a working‑management position that requires a balance of physical labor, delegation, team building and leadership, planning, and administrative work.
Service (40%): Creates an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated to increase confidence and loyalty. Ensures the department is merchandised per plan and delivers daily conditions that meet the company’s expectations for shelf product availability, freshness, quality and value. Designs floral arrangements, boutonnieres, corsages, funeral sprays, etc., merchandise product to reflect the season and maintain visual standards, offers product samples, answers product questions, and assists customers in finding or suggesting products.
Ensures customer requests and special orders are fulfilled.
Financial (30%): Completes daily and weekly administrative tasks (communications, online training, scheduling, pricing changes, orders, etc.). Maintains awareness of inventory/stocking conditions and reports any discrepancies. Reviews/inspects products for quality and freshness and takes appropriate action. Assists in planning, organizing, and performing the inventory process. Ensures product is held at the proper temperature per food‑safety guidelines and retains documentation of temperature logs per policy.
Leadership (20%): Promotes trust and respect among associates by collaborating, promoting teamwork, and communicating company, department and job‑specific information. Guides and empowers the team to meet or exceed the goals. Adheres to all local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines.
Compliance/Safety (10%): Ensures company standards for safety, proper food handling practices, sanitation and productivity are maintained. Adheres to all regulatory compliance requirements pertaining to food safety, USDA and CO. Executes all product recalls and withdrawals in a timely manner while ensuring all items are secured and removed from customer access. Reinforces safety programs by complying with safety procedures, inspects and identifies unsafe conditions to report to store management, notifies management of customer or employee accidents, reports all safety risks or issues, and maintains a culture of safety within the store.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Required:
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Ability to pass background and drug test
- Knowledge of plants, cut flowers and arrangements
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment
- Ability to work all floral holidays, weekends/overtime occasionally, and any shift
- Ability to work within strict time frames and resolve deadlines
- Ability to operate scissors, stem clippers, wire, box cutters, helium tanks, floral foam/tape, watering can, soil, decorator cubes, flower containers, refrigeration coolers, telephone, office supplies, knife, spray paint
- Accuracy/attention to detail
- Ability to organize/prioritize tasks and projects
Environmental Factors: Retail‑Floral:
Physical demands include standing/walking, manual dexterity, reaching overhead, carrying, pushing or lifting loads up to 30 lbs, climbing up to 10 ft. Working conditions may include indoor, outdoor, cold, freezing, heated and wet/humid environments. Safety risks involve twisting, walking on slippery floors, handling hazardous equipment, exposure to sharp objects, loud noise, irritants, fumes and hazardous cleaning solutions. Required equipment includes cleaning supplies, office supplies, register, pricing gun, scales, scanner, material‑handling equipment.
Personal protective equipment includes goggles, gloves, cutting gloves, back brace, etc.
Travel: Occasional Overnight: No Shifts: Varied shifts, including evening prime‑time shifts each week.
