Job Description Position

Purpose:

As a Freight and Receiving Specialist, you will play a vital role in ensuring that our store is fully stocked and prepared for business each day. You will assist customers with loading merchandise, efficiently load and unload delivery trucks, and move products throughout the store. This position may involve operating forklifts and performing essential tasks to maintain proper inventory levels and pricing for our customers.

Excellent customer service skills are essential, as you will frequently interact with customers.

• Inspect stock items for quality, reporting any damages or defects to supervisors.
• Adhere to all loss prevention policies and procedures.
• Label stock items for easy identification and organization based on turnover and store capabilities.
• Efficiently stock merchandise onto shelves, preparing items for customer access.
• Assist in building end caps and promotional displays.
• Provide fast and friendly service to enhance customer satisfaction.
• Proactively approach customers to offer assistance with loading products into their vehicles.
• Unload merchandise using designated equipment safely and effectively.
• Understand and execute efficient unloading processes for successful freight management.
• Accurately read vendor packing slips, shipping documents, UPC labels, and other receiving paperwork, ensuring alignment with purchase orders.

• Be aware that heavy equipment may cause temporary floor imperfections, creating uneven walking surfaces.
• Expect a warehouse environment that may be dusty and noisy at times.
• Doors frequently open, leading to drafts and changes in temperature within the store.
• Be vigilant as work areas can become slippery during wet conditions.
• Handle merchandise and tools carefully, some of which may have sharp edges.
• Be mindful that operating forklifts might emit gas fumes.
• Tools and supplies may occasionally contain hazardous materials.

Primarily comfortable but often requires managing moderate physical discomfort from dust, fumes, or odors.

Overnight travel is minimal, typically less than 10% of the time.
