At Primark, the Department Manager leads a team, optimizes sales, inventory, and store standards, and drives a superior customer experience.
What You’ll DoAs a Department Manager, you will own a department, focusing on maximizing sales, inventory, and standards. Responsibilities include managing inventory, arranging product according to customer demand, reviewing planograms and period layouts, and applying commercial insight to order merchandise daily to drive sales.
You will monitor the local market to maintain a competitive advantage in price, product, and shopping experience, using data to inform performance decisions and achieve targets, while maintaining stock file accuracy.
As the leader of your department, you will hire, train, coach and motivate a team of Sales Associates and Team Leaders, ensuring an exceptional shopping experience for every customer and a positive work environment for every colleague.

What You’ll BringTo be successful in this role, you will have at least 2 years of retail leadership experience in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment and demonstrate strong commercial acumen. Typical backgrounds include Store Manager, Assistant Store Manager, or Department Manager.
- You are nimble and adaptable, flexing plans and priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- You possess strong communication skills and the ability to relate to customers’ needs.
- You are a role model who can lead, motivate, and inspire the team, building confidence and enthusiasm.
- You are resilient with a proven ability to lead a team and give constructive feedback.
- You are commercially aware, understanding local market dynamics, key competitors, and using systems and tools to improve option control and drive sales.
- You have good planning and organizational skills, prioritizing and working within agreed timescales.
- You have experience supporting store management with the protection of people, property, and premises, including keyholder responsibilities and availability for emergency call‑outs.
- You can manage difficult situations and problem‑solve effectively.
- You communicate effectively in English, orally and in writing, with managers, supervisors, hourly colleagues, and customers.
Pay range: $58,700 – $71,760 (based on internal equity and geographic region).
