Position SummaryThe National Sales Manager is responsible for leading the company’s sales organization and driving sustainable revenue growth across all markets and customer segments. This position provides strategic direction, leadership, and support to the sales team while developing and executing initiatives that expand market presence, increase customer engagement, and achieve company sales objectives.
The National Sales Manager will oversee a team of approximately 10 sales representatives and will be responsible for territory management, sales planning, customer development, performance management, forecasting, and overall sales execution. This individual will work closely with executive leadership to develop and implement strategies that support the company’s short‑term and long‑term growth objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Sales Leadership & Team Development- Lead, coach, mentor, and develop a team of approximately 10 sales representatives.
- Establish clear sales goals, performance expectations, and accountability standards.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, coaching sessions, and field support activities.
- Foster a high‑performance culture focused on growth, customer service, teamwork, and accountability.
- Identify training and development opportunities to strengthen the effectiveness of the sales team.
- Develop and execute national sales strategies designed to achieve revenue and profitability targets.
- Identify opportunities to increase market share, expand into new markets, and grow existing customer relationships.
- Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitive activity to identify growth opportunities.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to establish annual sales objectives, budgets, and strategic initiatives.
- Drive new business development efforts and support key account growth initiatives.
- Design, evaluate, and optimize sales territories and routing plans to maximize coverage and efficiency.
- Ensure sales representatives effectively manage their territories and customer portfolios.
- Continuously evaluate territory performance and make recommendations for adjustments as necessary.
- Monitor sales activities to ensure efficient use of company resources and market coverage.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customers, partners, and stakeholders.
- Support the sales team in managing strategic customer relationships and resolving complex customer issues.
- Participate in customer visits, industry events, and business development opportunities as needed.
- Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction and long‑term account retention.
- Monitor sales performance against established goals and implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Prepare and manage sales forecasts, pipeline reports, and performance metrics.
- Analyze sales data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas requiring improvement.
- Provide regular reporting and recommendations to executive leadership regarding sales performance and market conditions.
- Partner with operations, customer service, marketing, finance, and executive leadership to ensure alignment across business objectives.
- Communicate market intelligence and customer feedback to support strategic decision‑making.
- Participate in planning initiatives related to growth, product launches, customer service improvements, and organizational development.
- 5–10 years of progressive sales experience with demonstrated success in achieving revenue growth.
- Previous leadership experience managing and developing sales professionals.
- Strong understanding of sales strategy, territory management, routing, forecasting, and customer relationship management.
- Proven ability to develop and execute successful sales initiatives.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
