Permits Coordinator I -

The Work You Will Do:

Permits Coordinator I / District Six / Director of Operations / District Maintenance / South Dade Maint – Administration This position supports FDOT by coordinating and administering utility, access, drainage, and special use permits to ensure compliance with Department standards and regulations. The role conducts inspections, reviews plans, and collaborates with stakeholders to promote safe, efficient, and compliant work within the transportation right-of-way.

Annual Salary Range: $52,073.10 - $67,388.71 A Competitive Area Differential (CAD) additive in the amount of $1,976.00 will be added to the annual salary.

Your Specific Responsibilities:

  • Assist supervisor to coordinate plans and construction review processes.
  • Coordinate the Utility Permits ensuring compliance with Department procedures, Florida Administrative Code Rules and the Department's Utility Accommodation Manual.
  • Prepares and processes permit related information.
  • Assist and coordinate with the supervisor in the operations of all Access and Drainage Permits ensuring compliance with Department Procedures, Florida Administrative Code Rules and the Department's Utility Accommodation Manual.
  • Makes routine inspections of permitted sites to ensure work is done safely and in accordance with the permit requirements.
  • Assist in all other miscellaneous permits.

The Successful Candidate will have the following required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of:
    The access management requirements The utility accommodations guide The engineering design, drainage and construction of these operations Computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheet software, and electronic mail
  • Skills in:
    The use of engineering tools, equipment and/or instruments Speaking, negotiation and dealing with the public and contractors.
  • Ability to:
    Analyze and interpret engineering data Perform technical engineering inspections Plan, organize and coordinate work assignments Communicate Engineering information effectively Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others

Other Job-Related Requirements:

  • The position's incumbent will be required to support the Department's emergency operations whenever required. While on-duty status, the position's incumbent may be required to drive a State owned or leased vehicle to perform the duties of this position. A valid Class "E" driver's license is required.
  • The incumbent of this position is required to work with or around Department of Correction inmates.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Certificate of High School Equivalency.
  • This position requires a valid Class "E" driver license with an acceptable driving record in accordance with the Department's Driver's Record Requirements Policy.
