Protects life and property while enforcing Florida State laws and University rules during University operations and Emergency events.
- Protects life and property, reports for work on a designated schedule and performs duties as directed; enforces State laws and University rules; performs patrol assignments in a Department vehicle or on foot as assigned; performs motorist assists and locks and unlocks buildings and doors; checks buildings for security, fire and safety hazards.
- Participates in judicial proceedings as required or directed; inspects patrol vehicles for proper fluid levels, tire pressure, and to insure operability of lights and/or emergency equipment; maintains issued equipment in a clean, serviceable condition; performs escort duties as directed; controls and monitors traffic flow.
- Performs essential duties in any emergencies such as hurricanes, public health emergencies, and/or any other university emergency closing. The employee is expected to be available to report to work as needed during university emergency closing with appropriate notification of a department administrator.
- Assists with administrative duties such as filing, delivers messages related to University business as directed; assists with inventory of Department property.
- Investigates vehicular accidents, complaints and other incidents. Prepares and submits reports, issues University parking citations, and Florida Uniform Traffic Citations. Provides emergency medical care (first aid) to sick or injured persons. Functions as an informational source for visitors and performs crime prevention/community relations duties as directed.
- Associate's Degree or at least sixty (60) college credits; OR High school diploma or equivalent; and Have two (2) years of active or reserve military duty; or OR Three years of continuous, post-high school work experience.
- At least 21 years of age a time of application. Citizen of the United States.
- Never have received a dishonorable discharge from any of the Armed Forces of the United States.
- Successfully completed the Florida Law Enforcement Basic Recruit Training Program, and successfully passed the Florida State Law Enforcement Officer Certification Examination. Applicants may apply if they are currently enrolled in a Police Academy, will have taken the Florida State Law Enforcement Officer Certification Examination, and will be certified prior to date of hire.
- For Florida Correctional Officers, must have successfully completed a cross-over law enforcement program, and successfully passed the Florida State Law Enforcement Officer Certification Examination.
