As a Security Host/Hostess, the main goal is to provide a safe and secure environment that enables guests, staff, and vendors to experience Sparrow Italia Miami’s high-energy, fine-dining experience.
Responsibilities- Perform protective and enforcement functions in a courteous and professional manner while dealing with emergencies, undesired conduct, disturbances, threats to life and property.
- As a first responder, be trained in Infant, Child, and Adult CPR, AED, Stop the Bleed, and fire extinguisher procedures to respond to emergencies as needed.
- Conduct interior and exterior restaurant patrols to identify undesired conditions.
- Evaluate situations quickly and make logical decisions while maintaining a calm demeanor.
- Conduct investigations, including scene evaluation and interviewing complainants and witnesses, coordinating with the correct personnel to assist with the investigation.
- Documentation and report writing.
- Maintain order in the restaurant while attending to the needs of guests, staff, and vendors.
- Assist in safety controls for performance aspects taking place inside the venue.
- Coordinate expedient response to emergency conditions such as fire alarms, safety hazards, and threats to life and/or property in a calm, rational, persuasive manner.
- Handle violations of restaurant policy, civil laws, and undesired conduct.
- Respond to security and emergency situations and prioritize work in a timely manner.
- Provide accurate information to guests, staff, and vendors seeking directions and hours of operation.
- Receive, record and secure found property and respond to guest inquiries for lost property.
- Escort staff and guests to parking areas as required.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Valid state security credentials/license.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Well-groomed appearance.
- Two years of experience in a position with direct guest contact.
- Strong verbal, written and technology skills.
- Keyboarding skills of 25 WPM.
- Investigation skills.
- General clerical duties using Microsoft Office and site-specific programs.
- Ability to work and stand inside and outside, sometimes in excessive heat or cold (location dependent).
- Strong observation skills with attention to detail for the entire shift.
- Ability to work independently.
- Physical ability to lift and carry up to 60 lbs and to push/pull up to 150 lbs.
- Must be able to speak, read, and write English.
- Associate degree or higher.
- Experience as a first responder or related experience aligned with day-to-day operations.
- Hospitality security guard/officer experience.
- High-end customer service experience.
- Basic training from military service.
- Loss Prevention and/or Plain Clothes Operatives experience.
- Experience in high-pressure situations such as EMS, Firefighting, or related roles.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Full availability is required seven days per week, including early mornings, evenings, overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays.
