Junior K9 Handler - Miami FL

Job Description

Open to Veterans, Transitioning Military, National Guard Members, Military Spouses, and Caregivers of War Wounded.

The Junior Handler will be responsible for screening cargo in compliance with TSA rules and regulations. The Junior Handler will be required to complete a 4–8‑weeks minimum team training course and certification prior to mobilization to the assigned location.

• Participate in CCSP related training to search cargo and identify potential threats
• Conduct authorized representative duties related to X‑Ray, physical search, and explosive trace detection as needed
• Perform Junior Handler duties while commanding a trained working dog
• Maintain training records
• Care for and maintain the assigned certified canine, ensuring its living area at the employee’s residence is adequate, indoor, and climate‑controlled, subject to recurring inspections
• Maintain all job‑related certifications and required security clearances
• Operate company vehicle as needed during on‑site training
• Work hours will be dictated by the customer’s schedule; nights, weekends, and holiday hours will be required, and travel may also be required
• Other duties as assigned

• U.S. Citizenship required for a minimum of three years prior to application
• Must obtain a Known Traveler Number (KTN) within four to six weeks of employment
• Must obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge within four to six weeks of employment
• Must obtain a Security Threat Assessment (STA) for Airport Badge within four to six weeks of employment
• Must have adequate transportation to move the assigned canine and crate in a vehicle with climate control
• Must pass applicable Contract Testing and Certifications within four to eight weeks of employment and maintain certification requirements
• Valid U.S. driver’s license with satisfactory record; compliant with REAL  or possess a valid U.S. passport in addition to a valid driver’s license
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Strong organizational skills with ability to manage time and multiple priorities
• Problem‑solving skills with an analytical thought process
• Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
• Physical ability to lift and carry up to 100 lbs; must stand for long periods, walk, run, climb, squat, stretch, bend, kneel, and use hands and fingers to manipulate tools or reach with arms
