Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Generator Technician / Master Generator Technician to serve as a top-level field expert in the diagnostics, repair, maintenance, and commissioning of complex generator systems. This role is critical to ensuring equipment reliability and operational excellence while acting as a technical leader within the service team. The ideal candidate possesses advanced mechanical and electrical expertise, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to safety and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and repair complex mechanical, electrical, and control system issues on diesel, natural gas, and bi-fuel generators
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting on engines, alternators, switch gear, paralleling systems, ATS, and digital control platforms
  • Conduct load bank testing, start-up, commissioning, and acceptance testing of generator systems
  • Interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals to resolve system failures
  • Perform major overhauls, engine rebuilds, and component replacements as required
  • Ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications, NFPA 110, NEC, EPA, and local codes
  • Serve as the technical escalation point for complex service issues
  • Mentor and train junior and mid-level technicians in diagnostics, safety, and best practices
  • Assist service management with technical guidance, repair strategies, and job planning
  • Support emergency response and critical power outages as a lead technician
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with customers regarding system condition, repairs, and recommendations
  • Collaborate effectively with internal teams, manufacturers, and third-party vendors
  • Maintain accurate records of services performed, expenses, and billable hours
  • Submit detailed service reports, diagnostics documentation, timesheets, and expense reports daily
  • Identify and recommend system upgrades, preventative maintenance, and compliance improvements
  • Maintain professional conduct and represent the company at a senior technical level
  • Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations
  • Perform work in a manner that ensures personal safety, team safety, and equipment protection
Requirements & Experience
  • 7–10+ years of hands‑on generator technician experience
  • Extensive experience with commercial and industrial generator systems (20kW–3MW+)
  • Advanced electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills
  • Strong working knowledge of ATS, switch gear, and paralleling controls
  • Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
  • Factory training on digital control systems and paralleling gear preferred
  • Familiarity with NFPA 110 and applicable compliance standards
  • Electrical license or equivalent technical certification preferred
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and outdoor environments
  • Willingness to travel locally and participate in an on‑call rotation
  • Ability to work extended hours during emergency response situations
