Description

SUMMARY Apprentices are normally enrolled in an aviation program at a technical school and should be working towards their Airframe or Powerplant license. They are assigned limited maintenance function duties and shall report to the Supervisor Maintenance or a designated A&P certificated mechanic and are responsible for performing assigned duties in compliance with our Repair Station Manual. All tasks assigned are to be performed under the supervision of a licensed mechanic in the job training environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Must be able to find and use SRMs, Maintenance Manuals, IPCs.
  • Identifies, removes and installs inspection access panels.
  • Removes and replaces aircraft components.
  • Reads, understands and implements directions of appropriate maintenance manuals to identify and locate associated components on the aircraft.
  • Accomplishes aircraft lubrications.
  • Follows standards of behavior and appearance for all staff members.
  • Asks questions as necessary to increase knowledge or skill.
  • Maintains work area in an orderly and clean manner.
  • Records time worked as directed by supervisor.
  • Complies with all safety procedures at all times, without exception.
  • Complies with all AAR policies and procedures which apply.
  • Keeps informed of such policies and procedures and asks supervisor for explanations of anything not fully understood.
  • Takes prudent actions appropriate to the preservation of Company or customer assets, whether in monetary or other form.
  • Attends work‑related training as scheduled.
  • Performs such other tasks as may be reasonably assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing in standard English.
  • General mechanical aptitude.
  • Must have ability to learn.
  • Must possess and be able to use minimum tools, i.e. basic hand tools, precision measurement equipment, etc.
  • Able to comprehend and follow instructions.
  • Able to interface in a professional and pleasant manner as required with other AAR corp. employees at all levels and with customers.
EDUCATION OR EXPERIENCE

High school education or G.E.D. preferred. Minimum of one year of technical aircraft maintenance training from an approved aviation school or training facility. May or may not have A&P license.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Exposed to high levels of noise, dust, vibration and chemical fumes. Able to lift fifty pounds without mechanical assistance.

Able to bend, twist, squat and lift. Able to access and work in all areas of the aircraft to be worked on, including confined areas. Able to climb on ladders and platforms and work at heights up to fifty feet from the ground. Able to work in extreme climatic conditions.
