Job Summary

Perform material handling operations, minor maintenance on plant equipment, and related duties under direct supervision. Responsibilities include ensuring proper startup and operation of transfer systems, operating heavy equipment for coal pile activities, performing preventive and minor maintenance, maintaining documentation, and completing tasks outlined in the Material Services Team Member checklist.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure proper startup and operation of transfer systems (conveyors, crushers, etc.) and mobile equipment.
  • Operate heavy equipment such as bulldozers, wagon scrapers, front‑end loaders, water tankers, and others to perform coal pile activities.
  • Operate balance of material unloading and handling equipment.
  • Perform Lockout‑Tagout (LOTO) and energy control procedures.
  • Collect and process coal samples.
  • Inspect and clean material handling areas and equipment.
  • Change oil and lubricate equipment.
  • Correct equipment problems and perform minor maintenance activities.
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Complete log entries and other required documentation.
  • Follow the Material Services Team Member job duty checklist within the specified time.
  • Use computer applications where appropriate.
  • Complete all training and testing requirements.
  • Perform similar or lesser skilled work as directed.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Mechanical and/or electrical aptitude.
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, damp, and confined spaces.
  • Ability to climb and work from a ladder or scaffold.
  • Cooperative temperament in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills to receive and transmit orders and instructions.
  • Ability to perform duties through tests.
  • Pass the POSS/MASS pre‑employment assessment.
