Position Summary

This position performs the maintenance and repairs of the company’s fleet, which includes vehicles and heavy equipment such as top loaders, mules, forklifts, step vans, cars, and possibly cranes. The role requires the ability to perform all essential duties satisfactorily, including maintenance and repairs to the company’s cranes when needed. Qualifications Primary
  • Full diesel mechanic with a minimum of two (2) years of experience diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and overhauling diesel engines.
  • Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical system components such as turbo, fuel injection, A/C, EGR, pumps, alternator, starter, drive train, and more.
  • Knowledge of diesel engine assembly practices, specifications, and procedures for maintenance, repairs, and replacements.
  • Effective analytical skills and the ability to identify problems quickly.
  • Ability to read and understand automotive diagrams and reference manuals.
  • Experience and ability to use common hand and power tools.
  • Commitment to staying up-to-speed with industry developments by attending company-sponsored training and other educational programs.
  • Basic English language proficiency (reading, writing, speaking).
  • Accurate processing of alpha/numeric information.
  • Flexibility to work a variable schedule.
  • Willingness to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Strong initiative and ability to work with limited supervision.
  • Certification in internal forklift operation within 90 days of employment.
  • Organizational and time‑management skills.
  • Strong oral communication skills; written skills preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Logical thinking and sound decision making.
  • Capability to obtain a TWIC card within 30 days of employment.
Preferred
  • Basic Electrical Certification.
  • Experience repairing, maintaining, and overhauling Cummins diesel engines.
  • Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting Allison Transmissions.
Duties and Responsibilities Primary
  • Full maintenance of the company’s fleet, including vehicles, mules, forklifts, and top loaders.
  • Inspect, analyze, test, measure, repair, and perform full or partial overhauls on any assemblies and sub-assemblies of heavy‑duty diesel engines and gas‑powered equipment, including entire engine disassembly and reassembly (in‑frame/out‑frame) to restore engines to pristine condition.
  • Determine vehicle condition through inspections and diagnostic tests, identifying worn and damaged parts.
  • Correct equipment deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub‑assemblies, components, parts, or systems such as power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics, and more. Complete machine shop operations and perform adjustments and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units.
  • Perform electrical and hydraulic restoration.
  • Conduct routine maintenance checks on diesel engines, fuel, brake, and transmission systems to ensure peak performance, safety, and longevity.
  • Maintain a clean work area, free of debris or safety hazards, and remain aware of surroundings.
Secondary
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Perform bodywork and finishing for the fleet as needed.
  • Repair and maintain Liebherr cranes.
Safety Requirements
  • Report safety hazards.
