Whatthis job involves
The Critical Facility HVAC Engineer is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of HVAC systems in a critical facility environment, such as a data center. This role involves performing preventive and repair work on facility mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems, as well as studying building automation and fire/life safety systems to ensure their proper functionality. The engineer conducts facility inspections, identifies conditions that may impact operations, and adheres to strict safety procedures to maintain a secure and compliant environment.
Additionally, the engineer utilizes CMMS systems to document work performed and ensure accurate records are maintained for all HVAC-related activities.
- Perform preventive and repair work on facility mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Study and become proficient in the operation of building automation systems, fire/life safety systems, and other critical facility equipment.
- Conduct facility inspections, identifying and reporting conditions that could impact client occupancy and operations.
- Comply with safety procedures, ensuring the overall safety and security of the facility.
- Utilize CMMS systems to accurately document work performed and maintain up-to-date records.
Required:
- Universal EPA/CFC recovery certification (or within 90 days of employment).
- Minimum of four (4) years of technical experience in building engineering.
- Strong background in packaged HVAC equipment repair and maintenance.
- Knowledge of overall system design and applications.
Preferred:
- Prior experience working in a data center environment.
- Two years of trades school or documented apprenticeship in electrical systems, refrigeration and HVAC, plumbing, or other craft skills.
