REFRIGERATION MECHANIC (PW FM Repairs & Maintenance)

• Identify and troubleshoot a variety of HVAC equipment and system problems, determining the necessary repair or preventive measure.
• Obtain and manage materials, supplies, and equipment required for assigned HVAC projects or work orders.
• Estimate the materials, supplies, equipment, and time needed for scheduled HVAC work to facilitate scheduling and cost planning.
• Perform routine HVAC maintenance and repairs to keep facilities and equipment in operating condition while ensuring a safe work environment.
• Execute scheduled preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment to detect potential issues, reduce emergency repairs, and extend equipment life.
• Document work activities by preparing written or electronic reports such as work order status, material requests, time and attendance, and activity logs.
• Overhaul and service refrigeration units, checking and replacing worn or broken parts on condensers, compressors, pumps, and related equipment, including refrigerant leak testing.
• Operate gauges and instruments to read temperature, velocity, and humidity; adjust valves, controls, and pumps to maintain proper system conditions and charge refrigerant as specified.
• Maintain accurate job order records and ensure efficient working conditions, including removal and installation of motors, thermostats, and humidistats.
• Repair or adjust valves, piping connections, fittings, and couplings; rebuild and paint cooling towers and fans as needed.
• Perform additional related work as assigned by management.

• Two (2) years of journey-level refrigeration mechanic experience or closely related work.

• Universal certification from the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency).
• Valid Florida Class E Driver's License.

• Completion of a recognized vocational training program for the mechanical trade.
• Industry certification by a nationally recognized body such as NATE or HVAC Excellence.
• Certification from the American Council for Accredited Certification (ACAC) or Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) or equivalent state-accepted certification (e.g., ACAC CMR, IICRC AMRT, IICRC WRT).
• At least five (5) years of experience working with building automation systems.
• At least two (2) years of duct cleaning experience in a commercial environment.
• At least five (5) years of verifiable journey-level experience with chilled water plant systems and associated equipment.

Work involves walking, standing, stooping, stretching, and lifting 20‑50 pounds repeatedly, requiring strong hand and finger coordination for tasks requiring fine tolerances.

Exposure to radiation and disease/pathogens in routine and frequent operations.
