Position: Diesel Mechanic (Miami FL )

Diesel Mechanic

Waste Connections, Inc. is hiring a Diesel Mechanic!

We have an immediate opening for a high-energy Diesel Mechanic to join the team at our Miami facility. Previous waste experience is a huge plus!

This position is night shift from 2 PM – 12 AM, Monday to Friday, with every other Saturday.

Pay: $26.00 to 30.00/hr DOE

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform repairs and assigned preventative maintenance services.
  • Conduct inspections, diagnosis, and repair of electrical, hydraulics, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
  • Utilize vehicle computer electronic systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs.
  • Complete required paperwork using fleet maintenance software programs to document repairs, parts usage, and repair times.
  • Review, complete, or assign repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
  • Conduct safety checks on vehicles and equipment.
  • Perform service calls for emergency breakdowns.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work environment in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
  • Extensive physical activity, including strenuous physical work such as heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling objects over 50 pounds.
  • Sometimes necessary to work in awkward or tight positions and handle greasy or dirty tools. Basic safety precautions must always be followed.
Minimum

Job Requirements
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is required.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Must provide your own personal tools.
  • Computer experience is required for using fleet maintenance software.
  • Experience with DPF Regeneration systems on CUMMINS and MACK trucks is a plus.
