Low Voltage Technician

The Low Voltage Technician is responsible for the installation, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of commercial fire alarm and low-voltage systems. The technician ensures all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable codes, manufacturer specifications, and company standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, service, and maintain commercial fire alarm systems.
  • Install and terminate low-voltage cabling, including fire alarm, access control, CCTV, and intrusion alarm systems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and system schematics.
  • Test and troubleshoot system components to identify and resolve faults.
  • Program and commission fire alarm control panels and field devices when required.
  • Perform system inspections and preventative maintenance.
  • Ensure installations comply with NFPA 72, NEC, local building codes, and AHJ requirements.
  • Complete service reports, inspection documentation, and work orders accurately.
  • Coordinate with project managers, electricians, inspectors, and customers.
  • Maintain company tools, equipment, and vehicles in good working condition.
  • Follow all OSHA safety regulations and company safety policies.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2+ years of experience installing or servicing commercial fire alarm or low-voltage systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of fire alarm systems, wiring methods, and low-voltage equipment.
  • Ability to read construction drawings and electrical schematics.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work on ladders, lifts, and construction sites.
  • English and Spanish required
