Automotive Technician — Custom Builds & Suspension (Experienced)

Big Shot Rides — Coconut Creek, FL | Full-time | $29–$38/hr based on skill.

Anyone can bolt on a lift kit. We need the tech who torques it to spec, wires the light bar clean, and puts the truck on the alignment rack before it leaves. If you'd rather be building SEMA-level trucks and exotics than doing the same repair for the tenth time this week, keep reading.

About us:

Big Shot Rides is a family-run custom shop in Coconut Creek (Broward County), minutes from I-95 and the Turnpike. We build exotic supercars, luxury cars, trucks, and SUVs, and several of our builds have gone to SEMA and shows across Florida. We have 30 years of experience and a business built on referrals and repeat clients, so quality isn't a slogan here, it's how we eat.

About the role:

You own the mechanical side of our builds — suspension, wheels and tires, brakes, exhaust, lighting, and accessories — from reading the work order to the final torque check and test drive. You'll work directly with the owner. Twelve months in, success looks like running the mechanical bay yourself, with every build rolling out aligned, balanced, and right the first time.

What you'll do:
  • Install lift kits, lowering kits, coilovers, shock upgrades, and air ride systems.
  • Run alignments on our Hunter Hawk Eye system after suspension work.
  • Mount and balance wheels and tires on our Hunter equipment — big wheels, low-profile tires, zero scratches.
  • Install brake kits, exhaust systems, and air intakes.
  • Wire light bars, rock lights, interior accent lighting, and train horns the right way: relays, fuses, and clean routing.
  • Install bumpers, and handle teardown and reassembly on exotics for our wrap team.
  • Document every job with photos and notes in Shopmonkey, and keep your bay clean.
What we're looking for:
Required:
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with aftermarket suspension, lift kits, and wheel and tire installs — with photos of your work, because we'll ask for them.
  • Solid 12-volt wiring skills for lighting and accessories.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean record — you'll be trusted with customer vehicles, exotics included.
  • Able to lift 50+ lbs and work under vehicles all day.
Nice to have:
  • Welding and fabrication.
  • Air ride and coilover setup experience.
  • Alignment experience, especially on Hunter equipment.
  • ASE certifications.
  • Experience on exotics or show builds.
The shop:
  • 6,000 sq ft, organized, and fully air-conditioned — in South Florida, that's a big deal.
  • Hunter Hawk Eye alignment system, Hunter Road Force Elite balancer, and Hunter Auto
    34R tire machine.
  • Four lifts — two four-posts, a heavy-duty two-post, and a mid-rise.
  • Autel and Snap-on scan tools, plus a full mechanic's tool lineup.
Pay & schedule:
  • $29–$38/hour (about $60K–$80K a year) based on demonstrated skill. Show us your builds; we'll talk honest numbers.
  • Full-time, Monday–Friday, 8:00 am–5:30 pm, with occasional Saturdays.
  • Annual raise reviews — raises follow skill here, not seniority.
  • Performance bonuses and a yearly bonus.
  • A path to lead tech as we grow.
Straight talk:

We're a small crew, so everyone pitches in, and every car that leaves carries our name. Loose hardware, hacked wiring, and scratched wheels don't leave this shop, and rushed work gets redone. If you follow torque specs, protect the paint, and take pride in builds that hold up, you'll fit right in.
