Job Summary
The College of Arts Science & Education is currently seeking a Temporary Summer Camp Counselor to join their team of professionals for the Camp Discover Summer Program.
Responsibilities- Be present on the MMC Campus Monday - Friday from June 8th - July 3rd, 2026, for 40 hours/week - with the possibility to work BBC program (Camp Explore) from July 13th - August 7th.
- Demonstrate a desire and ability to learn and be taught about a variety of STEM topics including marine and environmental sciences.
- Be physically able and willing to maintain constant supervision of campers and to fulfill all responsibilities.
- Be patient, energetic, fun loving and hardworking.
- Be flexible and able to work well with others while maintaining open and effective communication.
- Be available and participate in pre-camp staff training.
- Become familiar with and implement camp policies, procedures and philosophy.
- Be on time for all shifts and meetings.
- Assist the lead counselor in assuming responsibility for and supervising of assigned campers each week, including reading through pertinent medical information.
- Assist the Directors and lead counselors in preparing and conducting daily science activities, including by not limited to dissections, experiments, art projects and games.
- Assist the Directors and lead counselors in providing appropriate supervision and instruction to each camper in all settings and activities.
- Assist the Directors and lead counselors in coordinating daily water sport activities with the University Recreation Department.
- PARTICIPATE in all activities with campers.
- Maintain the cleanliness and safety of all areas used by the camp.
- Complete daily reports.
- Perform all other assigned duties, including greeting and communicating with parents/guardians at drop-off and pick-up.
High School Diploma or GED and 3 years of experience; OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
Desired Qualifications- Experience working with children in formal or informal settings.
- Knowledge or background in a broad range of sciences.
