Resident Camp Wellness Leader (MSW/LCSW) – Youth Social-Emotional Support

Location:

Stroudsburg, PA

Employment Type:

Full-Time, Seasonal (June 22 – August 16, 2026)

About Client

A residential youth summer program that treats social-emotional care as central to operations, not an afterthought. Clinical staff, unit leadership, and health personnel function as one integrated team, sustaining a consistent, community-wide support model for the duration of the season.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Base Salary: $5,250 – $6,000 for the full summer season — Based on experience and qualifications
  • Relocation Assistance:
Travel stipend of up to $400 toward airfare or travel expenses
  • Shift: Fully residential and on-site; pre-camp staff training June 22–27 through season close August 16
  • Benefits Package:
Private air-conditioned room with private bathroom; all meals included throughout the season; up to two children in rising grades 1–9 may attend tuition‑free (each valued at $12,750; salary adjustment of $500–$760 applies per child)
Job Summary

A hands‑on senior clinical leadership role woven into the fabric of a residential camp community—not a therapy or office‑based position. The focus is relational: building staff capacity, walking alongside campers through social‑emotional challenges, and maintaining transparent, timely communication with families throughout the season.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate fully in all pre‑season staff training; review individual camper profiles alongside unit leaders and bunk counselors before opening day.
  • Build counselor readiness through structured role‑play and facilitated discussion covering homesickness, anxiety, peer conflict, and behavioral challenges.
  • Attend nightly unit meetings to observe group dynamics and coach staff on constructive approaches to interpersonal friction within their bunks.
  • Facilitate three Lunch & Learn professional development sessions per unit across the course of the summer.
  • Serve as the primary family‑facing contact for all camper care inquiries; conduct all parent communication exclusively through approved camp channels.
  • Reach out to every first‑year camper family within the opening week; follow up after Health Center visits where continuity of care is warranted.
  • Review Daily Camper Reports and engage individually with campers whose social‑emotional experience requires closer attention.
  • Consult with camp leadership before any concern reaches the escalation threshold; collaborate with the Health Center to distinguish clinical from social‑emotional presenting needs.
  • Attend Camper Care Team meetings three times each week and any additional sessions convened by the Director of Camp Experience.
  • Maintain clear professional boundaries and exercise sound, discreet judgment consistently throughout the season.
Minimum Requirements
  • Active MSW, LCSW, or comparable state licensure with at least 2 years of direct experience working with children or adolescents.
  • Demonstrated history of supporting youth across social, behavioral, and emotional domains.
  • Strong communicator in both family‑facing and professional peer contexts.
  • Clear, consistent record of holding professional boundaries in community‑based environments.
  • Availability for every day of the season, including pre‑camp training through August 16.
  • Two professional references required; a minimum of one must be a current or recent direct supervisor.
Ideal Qualifications
  • Prior experience in a residential camp, school, or community youth‑serving organization.
  • Coaches and builds counselor capacity rather than absorbing their responsibilities.
  • High emotional intelligence; remains composed and makes sound decisions in ambiguous or fast‑moving situations.
  • Genuinely energized by camp life and community—approaches this as a meaningful professional commitment, not just a seasonal position.
