General Responsibilities of the Early Intervention Service CoordinatorThe Service Coordinator acts as a liaison between program staff, families, the M-DCPS Pre-K Exceptional Student Education department, and the local Early Steps program.
- Conduct tours and enrollments of potential families.
- Conduct official Family Support Plan meetings for the child/family including periodic updates, transition meetings, and exit staffings.
- Write case notes for tracking activities and for Medicaid target case management billing.
- Maintain client records: keep screening and staffing paperwork organized, supply screening packets, obtain and input child data documents (immunizations, physicals, OT/PT referrals, etc.), request updated documents from parents, review post-screening files, complete current and birth demographics forms, chart review and pre-staffing checklist.
- Send copies of documents and forms to MDCPS, EIPs, classrooms, and main office as needed.
- Translate letters and forms into other languages (and assist with translation of conversations) as needed.
- Collaborate with the Children & Youth Administrative Office as needed; write and record case work progress notes; submit monthly to the C&Y Administrative Office.
- Maintain positive interactions with families at all times.
- Attend most parent/guardian education and support activities (e.g., Open House, Parents Night).
- Participate in staffing meetings to transition children in and out of the program.
- Cooperate with co‑workers.
- Follow recommendations and requests from supervisors including teachers, social workers, nurse, school principal, and program director.
- Complete initial orientation provided by program.
- Participate in ongoing, in‑service trainings.
- Attend required trainings through contract agreements of the Agency.
- Participate in fundraising activities and agency events throughout the year.
- Present a positive image of Arc to the community.
- Maintain organization of the School by filing paperwork, storing equipment, and organizing supplies.
- Attend community meetings needed for contract compliance and by Department Head’s directive.
- Follow all Arc, South Florida policies and procedures.
- Perform other related and additional duties as needed.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Education or related field.
- Florida Early Steps Service Coordinator Credential within 90 days of hire.
- Experience working with families with infants and/or toddlers with disabilities is preferred.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a requirement.
