The Broward County Crisis Intervention and Support Division (CISD), part of the Human Services Department, ensures a comprehensive continuum of crisis and intervention services for youth, adults, families, and survivors of sexual assault, child abuse, and human trafficking. The Nancy J. Cotterman Center, is recognized nationally as the only Accredited Child Advocacy Center, the Certified Sexual Assault Program, and the Child Protection Team in Broward County.

The Office of Justice Services oversees the Adult and Juvenile Civil Citation Programs – which serves as an early intervention to keep individuals out of the criminal justice system by holding them accountable and reducing re-offenses. OJS also supports the Juvenile Pre-Disposition Services program which provides case coordination of youth who have been arrested by linking them to community providers and other interventions while they await the disposition of their case.

CISD administration provides administrative, fiscal, and operational oversight for the Justice Services Section and the Nancy J. Cotterman Center, which includes Crisis/Counseling and Child Protection Team/Medical Services.

This position plays a vital role in protecting children by conducting thorough abuse assessments and coordinating essential services with community partners. It combines investigative work, teamwork, and advocacy to ensure each child’s safety and well-being.

This is a Grant Funded Position

• Requires a Master's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in social work, mental health, psychology, or closely related field.
• Requires one (1) year of social services casework and counseling experience working with abused and neglected children.
• Requires six (6) months of experience in clinical case management.

• This position requires availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays, with schedules shifting based on operational needs and employee seniority.
• All staff participate in rotating on-call shifts.
• Forensic Interview Training is required within the first year of employment; the week-long training is held in Orlando.

• Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license.

• Work under supervision and report major activities during scheduled meetings.
• Conduct clinical screenings, interviews, and bio-psychosocial evaluations in agency offices and hospital districts.
• Triages referrals with medical staff and complete intake/referral screens for CPT abuse reports and conducts follow up as required.
• Reports after hours to the main office or to area hospitals to conduct emergency assessments as requested by law enforcement and/or DCF
• Completes intakes/referrals for assessment or deferment for the Child Protection Team
• Interview children, family members, and significant others to gather medical and psychosocial information.
• Witness forensic medical examinations and provide emotional support to children during evaluations.
• Coordinate assessment services with Child Protective Investigators, law enforcement, medical providers, and community agencies.
• Arrange and participate in multidisciplinary staffings and contribute to case recommendations.
• Observe, evaluate, and document participant status, maintaining accurate clinical records manually and electronically.
• Request and track medical records and ensure all report and case closure deadlines are met.
