SummaryThe Driver will be responsible for overseeing the loading and unloading of the trailer to ensure efficiency. The Driver is tasked with transporting and delivering products to customers by applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and local roads. Responsibilities include driving to and from designated locations, verifying loads against shipping papers, maintaining duty status records per state and federal regulations, and performing pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections.
Key Responsibilities- Inspect the truck for defects and safe operating conditions before, during and after each trip, submitting a written report at the beginning and end of each trip or tour of duty.
- Check shipping papers to determine the nature of the load and verify accuracy.
- Abide by Texas or FMCSA Hours of Service regulations.
- Load and unload trucks using a forklift.
- Have general knowledge of minor repairs (e.g., replacing safety lights, repairing electrical connections).
- Perform small engine repairs and general maintenance/repairs.
- Report all accidents and incidents involving drivers and company equipment.
- Report highway safety hazards noted in the route.
- Promptly report any delays due to breakdowns, weather or traffic conditions or other emergencies.
- Maintain records required for compliance with state and federal regulations, including driver duty status, mileage records and other required legal records.
- Be able to maneuver and handle tractor/trailers up to 53 feet.
Experience: 2+ years driving experience.
Knowledge and Skills- Maintain a safe driving record in good standing, free of any major violations.
- Have knowledge of vehicle safety and control systems.
- Understand DOT regulations governing safe driving, hours of service, inspections, and maintenance.
- Work well with others.
- Communicate effectively with fellow employees.
- Perform light to heavy lifting.
- Meet deadlines as required based on jobs assigned.
- Maintain a positive attitude.
- Read maps.
- Be safety‑oriented.
- Pay attention to detail.
- Be able to drive/travel as business needs dictate.
