Transportation Intern

Purpose of Position:

This position will be responsible for maintaining good relations between internal and external customers, and the company's network of 3rd party providers.

Accountabilities:

* Manage appointments for 3rd party carriers and brokers.

* Will be the first point of contact between carriers and customer for tracking and tracing purposes.

* Prepare daily routes and confirm routing with carrier and customer.

* Manage track process to ensure timely customer pickup and delivery.

* Manage collection of PODs

* Responsible for issuing of Com checks and lumpers.

* Update and maintain assigned reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.

* Keep dispatchers aware of any delays or problems.

Minimum

Skills Required:

* Knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs (i.e. Word, Excel and Outlook).

* Knowledge of Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). and regulations.

* Strong sense of direction and good understanding of the U.S. inland.

* Knowledge of transportation handling best practices, with a good understanding of cold chain management.

* Excellent communication, organizational and customer service skills.

* Must be flexible to work on holidays and weekends when required.

Preferred:

* Knowledge or experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS).

* Previous experience with any transportation software programs is beneficial for this position.

* Less than Load (LTL) and Truck Load (TL) experience.
