The Cargo Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the acceptance, handling, and documentation of all cargo shipments, with a strong emphasis on compliance with regulatory requirements for Dangerous Goods (DG). This role ensures that all shipments are processed accurately, safely, and in line with company, customer, and government standards. The Cargo Coordinator plays a key role in maintaining time‑sensitive and accurate cargo operations, safeguarding people, property, and the environment.
Responsibilities- Perform cargo acceptance in accordance with IATA, TSA, DOT, and airline‑specific regulations.
- Verify accuracy of cargo documentation, labeling, and packaging before acceptance.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and build‑up of cargo for outbound flights.
- Accept and process Dangerous Goods shipments in strict compliance with IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR).
- Inspect packaging, marking, labeling, and documentation for DG shipments to confirm compliance.
- Report and expedite any discrepancies or irregularities.
- Maintain knowledge of regulatory requirements for cargo acceptance and DG handling.
- Adhere to all company policies, safety procedures, and security protocols.
- Support audits and inspections by regulatory authorities, airlines, and customers.
- Coordinate with airlines, freight forwarders, and ground handling teams to ensure timely cargo processing.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders regarding shipment status, irregularities, and corrective actions.
- Provide support and guidance to colleagues on DG and cargo acceptance procedures.
- May be assigned to other duties as required.
- Carry out other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred).
- Valid IATA Dangerous Goods Acceptance Training (Category 6 or higher).
- Prior experience in cargo operations, freight forwarding, or ground handling (1–3 years preferred).
- Strong knowledge of IATA DGR, TSA, and general cargo acceptance procedures.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle time‑sensitive tasks.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to pass background checks, drug screening, and obtain/maintain required airport security clearances.
- 18 years of age or older.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English, including documents.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Physical activity may include:
- Stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift 70 pounds or more.
- Be able to hear and respond to the spoken voice and to audible alarms generated by terminal environment.
- Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less);
Distance Vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more);
Color Vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors);
Peripheral Vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point);

Ability to Adjust Focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus).
