Responsibilities

  • Performing a number of functions on a variety of fleet vehicles and equipment; as well as industrial equipment, according to company policy, federal, state, and local regulations; and his or her own knowledge of the equipment, driving a refueling tanker using specialized computer fuel management equipment to locate trailers for fueling, checking refrigerated trailer fluid levels, adding fluids as needed, keeping fuel logs, refilling the fuel tanker using specialized safety equipment, assist in bulk refueling process, conduct fuel audits, and clean and detail equipment.

Required Qualifications
  • Be at least 21 years old.
  • Not have an unacceptable drug test result on a Publix or company-sponsored drug test within the previous three years.
  • Must have primary residence located within 100 miles of the work location.
  • Must resolve pending sanctions against the individual's driver license that would result in suspension, revocation or cancellation prohibiting the individual from operating motor vehicles within 14 days of meeting with the paperwork processor.
  • Must not have one of the following major traffic offenses within the previous seven years: being under the influence of alcohol as prescribed by state law; being under the influence of a controlled substance; transportation, possession or unlawful use of a controlled substance while using a CMV; having an alcohol concentration between 0.04 and the level defined by state law as being under the influence of alcohol when driving a CMV or any vehicle for Publix business;

    refusing to take an alcohol or drug test as required by a state or jurisdiction under its implied consent laws or regulations or Publix; leaving the scene of an accident; driving a CMV when, as a result of prior violations committed operating a CMV, the driver's CLP or CDL is revoked, suspended, or canceled, or the driver is disqualified from operating a CMV.
  • Must not have one of the following major traffic offenses: causing a fatality through the negligent operation of a vehicle, including but not limited to the crimes of motor vehicle manslaughter, homicide by motor vehicle and negligent homicide; violating state or local law relating to motor vehicle traffic control (other than a parking violation) arising in connection with a fatal accident;

    using the vehicle in the commission of a felony involving manufacturing, distributing, or dispensing a controlled substance; using the vehicle in the commission of any felony involving possession with intent to manufacture, distribute, or dispense a controlled substance.
  • Must not have one of any of the following serious traffic violations within the previous three years: speeding excessively (15 mph or more above the regulated or posted speed limit); making improper or erratic traffic lane changes; following the vehicle ahead too closely; speeding in a school zone; passing a stopped school bus; careless driving; violating state or local law relating to motor vehicle traffic control (other than a parking, weight or vehicle equipment violation) arising in connection with a crash resulting in personal injury);

    violating a state or local law or ordinance on motor vehicle traffic control prohibiting texting (when operating a CMV or any vehicle for Publix business); violating a state or local law or ordinance on motor vehicle traffic control restricting or prohibiting the use of a hand‑held mobile telephone (when operating a CMV or any vehicle for Publix business); driving a CMV without obtaining a CLP or CDL;

    driving a CMV without a CLP or CDL in the driver's possession; driving a CMV without the proper class of CDL and/or endorsements for the specific vehicle group being operated or for the passengers or type of cargo being transported; driving a personally‑owned CMV which is not properly insured.
