Automotive Equipment Operator

Responsibilities

Skilled operation of light and moderately heavy trucks and automotive equipment. The role involves safe and efficient operation of equipment, supervision of helpers, and participation in loading and unloading activities. Work is typically performed on established schedules and routes, often without immediate supervision, with frequent checks for driving care, promptness, and thoroughness.

The incumbent may be required to:

• Drive open‑bed or barrel type packer trucks in assigned areas.
• Operate dump trucks for cleaning catch basins and supervise rodding and dragging of sewers.
• Operate rollers used in asphalt rolling and edging of streets.
• Drive dump trucks equipped with brush chipper attachments to support tree‑trimming crews.
• Haul trash using designated trash trucks.
• Use a backhoe for construction of roads, drainage systems, and water/wastewater lines.
• Operate skid steers/loaders for moving and loading various materials.
• Operate tractors with mowing bars or riding lawn mowers for grass‑cutting operations.
• Use brush grinders or sprayers for cleaning and caring for public grounds.
• Drive pick‑up, flatbed, and dump trucks transporting gravel, rocks, lumber, pipes, cement, and other construction materials.

Provide minor repairs to operated equipment and perform other related work as required.

• High school diploma or equivalent, or an equivalent combination of education and experience totaling at least six (6) months of relevant experience.
• Commercial Driver’s License (Class B or higher). A valid State of Florida CDL must be submitted at the time of application and maintained throughout employment.
• Ability to work various shifts, including nights, holidays, and weekends.
• Completion of a Level II background screening may be required.

Applicants must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Commercial Driver’s License (Class B or higher) for the duration of employment.
