Courier – Patient Transportation Department

The University of Miami Health Systems has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Courier. The Courier is responsible for transporting patients safely and efficiently to and from all departments as coordinated.

• Transport patients safely and efficiently to and from all departments as coordinated.
• Establish effective patient rapport.
• Operate transportation equipment (wheelchairs, stretchers, and E-cylinder oxygen tanks).
• Use precise eye‑hand coordination and dexterity to operate and adjust equipment.
• Relate cooperatively and constructively with patients, co‑workers, physicians, volunteers, and family members.
• Exercise independent judgment.
• Recognize IV pump alarms during transport and notify appropriate personnel.
• Visually assess patient’s general condition during transport.
• Effectively communicate with patients, family members, and others, as needed.

• High school diploma or equivalent education is required.
• No experience necessary.
• Must have a BLS (American Heart Association–Healthcare Professional).
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
• Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications may be considered.
