Ramp Clerk

Responsibilities

• Load and unload mail, express, baggage, freight, and company material on and off aircraft
• Transport cargo between terminals and aircraft
• Perform ramp transfers of cargo where required
• Receive, deliver, and physically handle freight, company material, export cargo, mail, and baggage
• Complete forms and messages necessary for assigned functions
• Comply with WFS site security procedures
• Monitor and report security breaches, suspicious occurrences, and non-compliance
• Position loaded containers on rollers with or alongside aircraft
• Drive vehicles and transport cargo with attached carts through congested aircraft areas
• Read off-load sheets to determine cargo destinations
• Confront and report unauthorized personnel in secured areas
• Report to work regularly and punctually

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
• At least 18 years of age
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to work rotating shifts, including weekends, holidays, and days off
• Ability to lift up to 70 lbs.
• Ability to work in all weather and environmental conditions, including jet engine fumes, vehicle emissions, dust, and jet engine noise
• Ability to distinguish red, green, and yellow
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
• Ability to work in a high-noise environment
• Ability to understand and react to verbal commands and safety warnings
• Ability to judge distances and use depth perception
• Ability to communicate successfully with others
• Ability to confront and question unauthorized personnel in secured areas
• This job requires joining the Transport Workers Union and paying union dues under the collective bargaining agreement

Demonstrates the ability to safely handle and transport cargo, comply with security procedures, and effectively communicate in a high-noise environment. Capable of performing physical tasks, including lifting heavy items and operating vehicles in congested areas.
