The Warehouse Manager is responsible for leading all warehouse operations within the processing plant, ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely movement of raw materials, packaging materials, finished products, and plant supplies. This position directly manages, schedules, trains, and develops warehouse associates and works closely with Production, Quality Assurance & Food Safety, Procurement, and Logistics to maintain accurate inventory, product traceability, proper storage, and timely material and product movement.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead and coordinate all warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, inventory control, staging, picking, and shipping, schedule daily warehouse activities according to plant production plans and priorities.
- Manage incoming and outgoing inventory and material availability, including raw materials, ingredients, packaging, finished products, and plant supplies; coordinate with Production, Procurement, and Logistics to meet operational requirements and delivery schedules.
- Manage warehouse purchasing and inventory levels, including preparing purchase orders for required inputs, monitoring stock levels, and proactively communicating low-stock items to ensure uninterrupted plant operations.
- Maintain inventory accuracy and traceability by reconciling physical inventory with system records, maintaining lot control and product identification, applying FIFO/FEFO practices, and promptly investigating and correcting discrepancies.
- Analyze inventory and warehouse performance to identify opportunities to improve storage, distribution, material utilization, inventory accuracy, labor efficiency, and overall operational performance.
- Lead and develop warehouse associates, including staffing, scheduling, task assignments, training, coaching, performance management, and development; ensure compliance with safety, productivity, housekeeping, and company standards.
- Maintain safe, sanitary, and organized warehouse operations, including appropriate temperature control, product segregation, sanitation, housekeeping, efficient use of storage space, and safe operation of warehouse equipment.
- Ensure proper product handling and warehouse compliance, including receiving inspections, handling of held/rejected/damaged products, and compliance with HACCP, FSMA, GMP, SQF/GFSI, customer, and regulatory requirements in partnership with Quality Assurance & Food Safety.
- Oversee finished-product staging and shipping, ensuring orders are accurate, complete, properly documented, and shipped according to customer requirements.
- Support operational issue resolution and continuous improvement by partnering with Production, Quality, Procurement, and Logistics to resolve inventory, traceability, product-handling, supply, and warehouse issues and improve material flow and efficiency.
- Manage environmental and audit requirements within the warehouse, including appropriate control and handling of hazardous waste and support for regulatory, customer, environmental, and third-party audits.
- Report warehouse performance and operational issues to the Plant Manager, including staffing, inventory, low-stock items, productivity, and other significant warehouse matters; perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
- Minimum 4 years' experience in warehouse management or similar role.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in the aquaculture/seafood industry and/or perishable industry.
- Degree in Logistics/ Engineering / Business Management or related field.
- Strong knowledge of inventory management, distribution, and traceability.
- Proven leadership and team management abilities.
- Strong planning and organizational skills.
- Experience working in cold storage or temperature-controlled warehouse environments
- Knowledge of ERP and WMS systems
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
- Knowledge of occupational health and safety requirements.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
- Proactive approach with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Current forklift certification and experience with safe forklift operations.
- 5+ years of experience in the aquaculture industry (preferred experience)
- Power BI experience is an asset (preferred experience)
- Fluent in English and Spanish
