Within our Underground Services Practice, we are seeking a Senior Tunnel Engineer based in Boston, MA
. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience working on geotechnical, underground, tunnel, or trenchless construction projects, including both design and construction management roles and possess the professional and interpersonal skills to make a positive impact on our firm and the clients we serve.

Annual Compensation: $85,000 – 140,000 based upon experience, certifications, and regional market standards.

• Manage tasks, projects, and technical staff.
• Prepare construction plans and specifications, structural/geotechnical calculations and design reports, as well as technical memoranda.
• Produce design calculations (including numerical analysis) as required in support of tunnel and trenchless design including support of excavation (shafts & tunnels – including connection details and complex structures), and adherence to all local and national codes of practice for concrete, steel, and timber design.
• Oversee the completion of geotechnical investigations in both soil and rock geology.
• Develop design parameters from geotechnical reports.
• Prepare Technical Memoranda, Geotechnical Data Reports (GDRs), and Geotechnical Baseline Reports (GBRs).
• Increase Aldea/LJB’s visibility with internal and external professionals by participating in regional initiatives, conferences, committees, and community associations, including any identified industry activities.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Field-based assignments will include weekdays, night, and weekend work. Office-based assignments will require a standard weekday business hours work schedule.

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant area of study required (Civil, Structural, Geological/Geotechnical, or related field).
• Master’s degree preferred.

• 10+ years of relevant experience including project experience in the planning, design, and construction of a variety of tunnel and trenchless projects.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred but not required.
• Excellent problem solving, decision making and teamwork skills.
• Excellent technical writing skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills, a thorough knowledge of relevant technical codes, operations, processes, and trends.
• Ability to work weekdays, nights, and weekends within the field.
• Ability to work a standard weekday work schedule during business hours within the office.
• Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors, and clients.
• Ability to work independently, exercise independent judgment, interact with other staff, collaborate with other disciplines, and mentor junior staff.
