We are seeking candidates to fill a full‑time position of Geospatial Technician II in Dayton, Ohio. This role combines hands‑on reality capture (terrestrial laser scanning and UAS‑based mapping) with GIS field data collection and processing under a single field‑based technician role. The position includes structured on‑the‑job training and Esri certification support for candidates building their GIS expertise from a reality capture background.

GEOSPATIALTECHNICIAN II ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Plans and executes field data collection, ensuring the appropriate and most cost‑effective data collection methods and technologies are used for the project tasks. This includes terrestrial laser scanning, UAS photogrammetry, UAS LiDAR missions, traditional GPS survey, or other data collection methods.
- Establishes and recovers survey control sufficient to meet project accuracy specifications.
- Conducts GIS field data collection and validation tasks using GNSS equipment and Esri Field Maps and Survey
123 applications. - Registers and processes point clouds; generates orthomosaics, DEMs, and derivative products.
- Ensures the accuracy and quality of all reality capture and GIS deliverables through documented QA/QC procedures.
- Provides technical support and training to GIS and non‑GIS staff on field capture workflows and deliverables.
- Prepares user manuals, technical documentation, and help guides.
- Works with project managers, surveyors, and engineers to meet project scope, deliverables, and accuracy requirements; prepares and presents project status reports to team and management.
- Georeferences as‑built construction drawings, aerial imagery, and historic drawings.
- Designs and prepares accurate GIS maps and applications utilizing the Esri suite of products, Portal, and ArcGIS Online (AGOL) for public and private sector needs.
- Reviews existing and new data for accuracy, usefulness, quality, and completeness.
- Performs complex feature extraction from point clouds and imagery into Esri‑based geodatabases under minimum supervision with continuing and meticulous attention to detail.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of business.
- Troubleshoots and resolves issues related to reality capture, UAS, and GIS hardware and software.
- Collaborates with cross‑functional teams on geospatial projects across the firm’s business lines.
- Effective communication with team members, other departments, and external stakeholders.
- Outdoor work environment subject to hot/cold temperatures and uneven terrain.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites.

- College degree or certificate in Surveying, Geomatics, Geography, Cartography, GIS, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field preferred.
- Active FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate with documented UAS field experience (photogrammetry and/or LiDAR).
- 3+ years of professional experience operating terrestrial laser scanners (e.g., Leica, Trimble, Faro), including registration, control, and processing.
- Strong working knowledge of coordinate systems, datums, projections, and georeferencing.
