We are currently seeking an experienced Roadway Design Engineer – Project Manager to support and grow our Transportation Practice in our Dayton, OH office.

Annual Compensation

$95,000 – $185,000 based upon experience, certifications, and regional market standards.

Essential Functions
  • Responsible for scope, fees, and the profitability of individual projects as well as a portfolio of projects.
  • Point person and firm’s contact with clients while functioning as project manager.
  • Assists in new sales with clients for which they are managing projects.
  • Guides and coordinates all internal LJB transportation disciplines, with sub‑consultants, and clients.
  • Has a basic understanding of what the other transportation disciplines do and what they require as part of specific projects.
  • Responsible for the nine knowledge areas, according to the Project Management Institute (PMI), that are associated with each phase of the project they are managing, including:
    • Project Integration Management
    • Project Scope Management
    • Project Time Management
    • Project Cost Management
    • Project Quality Management
    • Project Human Resource Management
    • Project Communications Management
    • Project Risk Management
    • Project Procurement Management
  • Responsible for assisting the Deputy Operations Manager in maintaining PM best practices.
  • On larger projects, the PM may or may not be involved directly in the design.
  • Apprise the Deputy Operations Manager of employee performance on particular projects.
  • Provide information to the Deputy Operations Manager on future projects so they can manage staffing.
  • Assist in informal development of other employees.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
  • P.E. license required;
    Ohio PE is preferred. Successful candidates will be expected to obtain their OH PE within the first year of hire.
  • At least 10 years of experience in consulting or engineering.
  • Experience working on DOT design projects is required; experience with multiple DOTs is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5 years of project management experience is preferred.
  • Deltek Vantagepoint or similar CRM and Project Management software experience.
  • Micro Station, Open Roads, AutoCAD, and Civil‑3D software experience.
