Job DescriptionWe are seeking a Chemical Mix Technician whose primary function is to process crude energetic material by recrystallization. In addition to recrystallization, the employee will conduct analyses of energetic material through various analytical methods. The technician is responsible for keeping the production floor supplied through the handling and transferring of energetic material to/from production rooms that include outdoor travel to/from outdoor storage locations.
Detailed and accurate documentation is necessary to satisfy both customer specifications and government regulations.

Location:
Miamisburg, OH.
- Set up and maintain laboratory equipment, instrumentation and labware/glassware.
- Clean and maintain laboratory equipment.
- Manufacture energetic material by recrystallization method, mixing hazardous chemicals and explosive powders in a controlled laboratory setting.
- Operate multiple laboratory equipment pieces simultaneously, including kettles, boilers, process chilled loops, vacuum equipment, air driven valves, etc., at specified ranges.
- Handle explosive and hazardous materials during various process preparations.
- Package hazardous and energetic waste in accordance with DoD approved standards.
- Perform analyses on energetic material samples using surface area analyzer, particle sizer, vacuum equipment, etc.
- Draw samples that accurately represent batches to be analyzed.
- Compile and interpret results of tests and analyses; report results to supervisor.
- Transfer energetic material to different rooms and locations; coordinate explosive waste pickup every 90 days through an exterior vendor, updating and recertifying shipping profiles as required.
- Perform any other job-related tasks assigned by your supervisor/manager.
- High school diploma or GED (Associate’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 6 months of industrial experience or similar training; laboratory experience preferred.
- Excellent math skills.
- Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); must calculate averages, sums and use formulas in Excel.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Ability to follow written procedures precisely and maintain accurate production documentation.
- Effective verbal and written communication with all levels of the organization.
- Detail oriented with proven ability to learn new processes and systems.
- Ability to cross‑train on other programs in the facility.
- U.S. Citizenship is required due to Department of Energy requirements.
- Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods.
- Requires occasional bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, pushing, pulling, mild lifting of 10 pounds or less.
- Ability to wear required PPE and work safely around chemicals and energetic materials.
- May intermittently lift up to 50 pounds.
