Team Coach (Shift Supervisor) - Powder Coat

Location: 10511 Washington Church Road, Miamisburg OH 45342

Your Impact

The Team Coach (Shift Supervisor) is a frontline operational leader responsible for running today safely, delivering quality at takt, and solving problems immediately. Rooted in Toyota Production System (TPS) principles, the Team Coach acts as a leader‑as‑teacher, owning daily safety, quality, and standard work while developing operators through hands‑on coaching.

This role exists to ensure problems are surfaced and addressed in real time, work is performed to standard, and teams are continuously improving. Team Coaches have real authority and accountability for their area and are expected to solve problems at the lowest possible level.

Your Day to Day Responsibilities
  • Own daily safety, quality, delivery, and standard work for assigned team/area
  • Ensure work is executed to defined Standard Work and takt time
  • Lead daily start‑up, shift handoffs, and visual management reviews
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment (5S mindset)
  • Respond immediately to safety, quality, or flow issues as they arise
  • Treat problems as signals, not failures — stop and address abnormalities
  • Contain issues quickly and restore standard work
  • Escalate only those problems that cannot be solved at the team level
  • Coach operators on SOPs, quality standards, and safe work practices
  • Observe work regularly and provide in‑the‑moment feedback
  • Reinforce expected behaviors and standards through presence on the floor
  • Act as a teacher, not a firefighter or administrator
  • Lead structured problem‑solving using TPS principles (e.g., root cause, countermeasures)
  • Ensure countermeasures are practical, tested, and sustained
  • Capture and share learning across shifts and teams
  • Support continuous improvement while protecting daily execution
  • Track team training status, skill coverage, and readiness
  • Ensure operators are qualified before performing work independently
  • Identify skill gaps and coordinate cross‑training as needed
  • Support onboarding and development of new team members
Minimum Qualifications
  • 3+ years experience in powder coating, Preferred
  • Experience in manufacturing, operations, or field execution environments
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams through influence and coaching
  • Strong understanding of safety, quality, and process discipline
  • Comfort operating in fast‑paced, problem‑rich environments
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Toyota Production System concepts, Preferred
  • Prior frontline leadership or coaching experience, Preferred
  • Familiarity with standard work, visual management, and problem‑solving tools, Preferred
  • Background in high‑growth or operationally complex environments, Preferred
  • 1+ years of Accelevation experience, Preferred

Work may involve exposure to moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, chemicals, electrical hazards, and explosives.
