Schedule: Full-Time, On-Site | Monday–Friday
Project Type: Ground-Up Data Center Construction
Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Senior MEP Project Manager to join a leading General Contractor delivering a major ground-up data center project south of Chicago.
The successful candidate will take ownership of the MEP scope, coordinating mechanical, electrical and plumbing packages from design and procurement through construction, commissioning and final handover.
Candidates must have previous ground-up data center construction experience working for a General Contractor.
Key Responsibilities- Lead MEP delivery across a large-scale ground-up data center project
- Manage mechanical, electrical, plumbing and mission-critical packages
- Coordinate MEP subcontractors, vendors, design teams and consultants
- Manage schedules, budgets, procurement and subcontractor performance
- Oversee RFIs, submittals, change orders and design coordination
- Review drawings and identify constructability issues, clashes and project risks
- Drive coordination between MEP systems and the wider construction schedule
- Monitor progress against key milestones and hold subcontractors accountable
- Lead MEP coordination meetings with project stakeholders
- Coordinate critical infrastructure including power, cooling and life-safety systems
- Work closely with commissioning teams through testing, start-up and turnover
- Manage punch lists, documentation and final handover
- Ensure safety, quality and compliance standards are maintained throughout delivery
- General Contractor (GC) background
- Team leadership & development
- Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical construction
- Experience managing major MEP subcontractors and complex packages
- Strong understanding of mission-critical systems and infrastructure
- Experience managing schedules, costs, change orders and procurement
- Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills
- Able to work full-time on site Monday–Friday
Please note: Candidates whose experience is solely with an MEP subcontractor, without relevant GC experience, will not be considered.
