The Facilities Engineering Department leads the design, installation, operation, maintenance, modification, construction, modernization, and protection of the physical property, facilities, and equipment of Hitachi Global Air Power. This Facilities Engineer works directly with the Facilities Engineering Manager on improvement projects within the department and the Hitachi group. The role is located in Michigan City, Indiana and reports to the Facilities Engineering Manager.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Support Hitachi Global Air Power, global M&A activities, and the Hitachi Air Centers (HACs) under the management of the Facilities Engineering Manager.
- Plan, direct, and supervise construction and manufacturing projects using project and cost planning and management skills.
- Assist in due diligence activities, site start‑up activities, lease reviews, and asset reviews for M&A activities.
- Develop and write technical specifications, designs, and plans for capital projects.
- Create layouts for existing and future projects/processes/designs in AutoCAD.
- Lead and perform root cause analysis on a regular basis.
- Manage all aspects of several concurrent projects and prioritize tasks.
- Work with cross‑functional teams to meet program targets for cost, quality, and performance.
- Develop and communicate scope, tasks, resources, costs and timelines for projects.
- Prepare project status reports, identify risks, and prepare mitigation plans.
- Maintain overall project cost status by reviewing and approving expenditures and labor plans.
- Plan and manage energy, building control systems, building automation, energy reduction projects, reviews and audits.
- Direct maintenance of buildings, grounds and equipment, establish facility standards, predictive and preventive maintenance, repairs, and vehicle fleet management.
- Develop and maintain key metrics and initiatives within department and project teams.
- Lead emergency management and control, including preparedness, training and disaster recovery.
- Maintain and improve security and fire protection including access control, electronic monitoring and notification.
- Ensure regulatory compliance with local, state, federal and international requirements.
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 5–10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of construction and manufacturing concepts.
- Experience with AutoCAD (required).
- Strong project management experience (required).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel (required).
- Experience with Microsoft Project (preferred).
- Good analytical skills and detail‑oriented.
- Ability to adapt and implement modern technology quickly.
- Ability to work safely and effectively in a fast‑paced, changing environment and manage emergency situations.
- Strong organizational skills.
