Our client, a leading manufacturer of specialized industrial materials, is in need of an Automation and Controls Engineer to provide support for maintenance and manufacturing operations by designing, programming, and troubleshooting controls.
This opportunity is a full-time position located in Michigan City, Indiana, perfect for an engineer who excels in the areas of automation, electrical systems, and hands-on manufacturing support.

Responsibilities
Create and design electrical control systems and manufacturing machinery
Program and troubleshoot PLC systems with Siemens Step 7 and TIA Portal
Develop and maintain HMI and SCADA systems utilizing WinCC platforms
Diagnose complex issues with electrical, mechanical, and controls-related equipment
Assist maintenance and production teams in resolving equipment and process challenges
Design control logic, wiring diagrams, and AutoCAD electrical drawings
Help integrate automation systems, including industrial networks like Profibus, Profinet, and Ethernet
Work with motor controls, drives, and variable frequency drives
Develop and update documentation such as PLC programs, schematics, and troubleshooting manuals
Provide on-call troubleshooting support for plant operations as needed
Qualifications
Capability to perform the described tasks effectively
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field
3+ years of experience in automation and controls within manufacturing or system integration
Proficient in PLC programming (Siemens expertise is preferred)
Experience with HMI/SCADA systems and controls integration
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills in automated environments
Knowledge of electrical systems, motor controls, and industrial networks
Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with maintenance and production teams
Background in plastics manufacturing, extrusion, or continuous process environments is a bonus
